Last week, the federal government presented a plan to compensate for the loss of revenue from the agreement that maintained payroll tax exemptions for 17 sectors of the economy and for small municipalities this year. Provisional Measure No. 1,227/2024 – known as the “End of the World PM” – was then published, restricting the use of PIS/Cofins tax credits.
Our tax team points out that the measure is controversial and brings several points of attention, which have led to the judicialization of the matter and its return by the National Congress.
