Public Contracts and Tax Reform

Igor Nascimento de Souza was one of the speakers at the III International Tax Law Congress, held last week by the Institute for the Application of Taxation (IAT), in Trancoso (BA), to discuss “Public Contracts and Tax Reform”.

The economic and financial rebalancing of contracts was the focus of the debate. With the tax reform, this will be one of the main topics debated by the tax and infrastructure teams in the coming years, given the relevance of the values and the importance of the issue for public service concessionaires.

According to our partner, the reform regulations need to bring improvements and a pre-defined methodology, clearly showing what criteria will be used by all the agencies and bodies responsible for analyzing contract rebalancing. “If each agency has its own methodology, it’s possible that unnecessary conflicts and legal challenges will arise,” says Igor.

We congratulate IAT for organizing an event with complete discussions. We also thank Tacio Lacerda Gama, Leticia Dantas, Marcos Maia, Adriano Maia, Mariana Figueiredo and Thais Alberghini.
